Molecular Sound worked with James Mobbs on the titles for the BRIT Awards 2023 nominees announcement, combining sound design with a Grime Co-LAB release from Molecular Originals.
The Brief
A nominees announcement has one job: make a list feel like an event. It had to sound like the BRITs and like now, current enough for the artists on the list and punchy enough to carry titles rather than sit underneath them as a bed.
The Sound
Rather than a library cue, the titles are built on a grime track from Molecular Originals, released through Grime Co-LAB. That puts a current, UK-specific record against the announcement instead of generic awards-show fanfare, which is the point of a list that is meant to feel like the year in British music. The sound design carries the type and the transitions, the track carries the attitude.
